Kubota Agri Robo

The Kubota Agri Robo is a series of autonomous tractors developed by Kubota Corporation to address Japan's severe agricultural labour shortage — the average Japanese farmer is now over 67 years old, and the number of farm workers has halved over the past three decades. The Agri Robo platform covers key operations including rice transplanting, tillage, and harvesting across paddy fields, using RTK GPS and advanced sensors to follow pre-programmed field paths without an operator. Kubota's approach focuses on making autonomous operation accessible to small and medium-scale family farms, which dominate Japanese agriculture. The Agri Robo line is commercially available in Japan and Kubota is progressively expanding availability to other Asian rice-growing markets. It integrates with Kubota's KSAS (Kubota Smart Agriculture System) cloud platform for field planning, work logging, and fleet management.
