Dutch autonomous implement-carrier maker AgXeed has closed a €30 million Series B led by Thüga Ventures and Rabobank's food & ag fund. The capital will fund 200 additional AgBot units for lease customers across France, Germany, and the UK by Q1 2027. AgXeed's contract-farming model — where farmers pay per hectare rather than buying the machine — is proving sticky: retention exceeds 90% after the first full crop season.

SwarmFarm Robotics, the Queensland-based autonomous weed-control startup, has agreed a distribution partnership with Elders Limited, Australia's largest agribusiness network. DJI has pushed a firmware update to the Agras T70P that brings the drone into full compliance with the FAA's Remote ID rules that took effect for commercial spray operations in June 2026. The update is mandatory for US commercial operators by 1 September and can be applied via the DJI Ag app without returning the unit to a dealer. For operators running the T70P fleet in BVLOS corridors, the update also unlocks a new automated return-to-home logic that reduces mid-field aborts during spray passes.

A new peer-reviewed study from Wageningen University's Farm Technology Group benchmarked six robotic harvesting platforms against skilled hand labour across strawberries, tomatoes, and bell peppers. Robotic throughput reached 68–82% of expert hand-pickers in controlled conditions — a meaningful improvement on the 40–55% figures published in 2022. The authors note that the remaining gap is concentrated in irregular-canopy detection, suggesting sensor-fusion improvements will close it faster than mechanical re-design.
